Reusable crates are easier to pack than cardboard because they are a consistent size and shape. A little strategy makes them even better: safer stacks, faster loading, and a smoother unpack on the other end.
Weight and balance
- Heavy on the bottom: books, dishes, and canned goods go in first so the crate stays stable.
- Do not overfill: pack level with the rim so the lid snaps flat and crates stack squarely.
- Spread the weight: two half-full crates beat one that is too heavy to lift.
Label as you go
Use the reusable labels we include to mark each crate with its room and a few contents. Labeling while you pack, not after, saves real time when everything comes off the truck and needs to land in the right room.
Room-by-room quick tips
- Kitchen: wrap dishes in towels or paper, stand plates on edge, and keep crates on the lighter side.
- Closets: crates are great for shoes, linens, and folded clothing. Hang-up clothes can ride on top in wardrobe bags.
- Electronics: the rigid walls protect gear better than cardboard. Pad around items with soft goods.
- Fragiles: fill gaps so nothing shifts, and label the crate clearly.
Load the dolly smart
Because crates are uniform, they stack tall and tight on the dolly we provide, letting you move several at once. Put the heaviest crates on the bottom of the stack. Need to know how many to order first? See our sizing guide.
