Guessing how many boxes a move takes is stressful. Here is a realistic starting point based on typical St. Petersburg homes. It is always better to have a couple extra crates than to run short mid-pack, and with a rental you are not stuck with leftovers either way.
By home size
| Home | Crates (typical) | Best kit |
|---|---|---|
| Studio / dorm | 10 to 15 | Studio kit (10) |
| 1 bedroom | 18 to 25 | 1-2 Bedroom kit (25) |
| 2 bedroom | 25 to 35 | 1-2 Bedroom kit (25), add as needed |
| 3+ bedroom | 40+ | Call for a custom kit |
Studio kit
$49 / 2 weeks
10 crates, dolly, labels. Studio or a few rooms.
1-2 Bedroom kit
$95 / 2 weeks
25 crates, dolly, labels. Most popular.
Room by room
- Kitchen: one of the heaviest rooms. Plan 5 to 8 crates for dishes, pantry, and small appliances.
- Bedrooms: 4 to 6 crates each for clothing, linens, and nightstand items.
- Living room: 3 to 5 crates for books, media, decor, and electronics.
- Bathrooms and closets: 2 to 3 crates each.
- Garage and storage: highly variable, but crates handle tools and bulky items far better than cardboard.
A few packing tips
- Heavy items (books, canned goods) go in the bottom of a crate, not a huge single box.
- Use the reusable labels to mark the room and a few contents.
- Fill crates full so they stack evenly on the dolly.
Ordered the wrong amount? No problem, just call and we will add or swap crates. See rental pricing for what each kit includes.
